A finishing contractor, not a general one

Plenty of LA contractors will take on anything and subcontract most of it. We deliberately do the opposite: six trades, done in-house, done well. It is a narrower business and a far better result.

Fresh Build exists because of a pattern we kept seeing on other people's jobs: the trades that decide how a house actually looks and feels — paint, plaster, floors, tile — are the ones most often handed to whichever sub was cheapest and available that week.

So we built the company around those trades instead of treating them as an afterthought. Our painters are our painters. Our drywall finishers are ours. The crew that starts your job is the crew that finishes it, and that single fact removes most of what goes wrong in residential contracting.

We work across Los Angeles County and Orange County — the San Fernando Valley, the Westside, the San Gabriel Valley, the coast from Huntington Beach to Laguna, and the cities around Irvine and Anaheim, on everything from a single room of painting to a full kitchen. Same standards either way — a small job done properly is how most of our larger jobs started.

How we operate

Four things we do not bend on

  • We quote what the job is, not what you hope it is

    If the roof deck is wet or the subfloor is rotten, you hear it on day one with photographs, not in a revised invoice at the end.

  • Fixed price, in writing, before anything starts

    Hourly billing punishes the client for the contractor's inefficiency. Everything we do is priced as a scope, and the price only moves if the scope does.

  • The deposit stays legal

    California caps a residential down payment at $1,000 or 10%, whichever is less. We never ask for more. A contractor asking for half up front is telling you something.

  • The last 10% gets the same attention as the first

    Punch lists are where most jobs quietly fall apart. Ours is written down, walked with you, and signed off before we call anything finished.

Yes. Fresh Build holds California license #1166332 and carries both general liability and workers' compensation cover. You can verify the license yourself on the CSLB website, and we will send certificates of insurance to you or your HOA on request.

Nothing. We come out, measure, look at what is actually there and send a written fixed-price quote. There is no fee and no obligation, and the number in that quote is the number you pay unless you change the scope or we find something hidden — in which case we photograph it and price it before touching anything.

Small jobs — a room of painting, a drywall repair — usually within a week. Larger projects like a full interior repaint or a bathroom remodel typically start two to three weeks out. If you have a hard deadline, tell us during the estimate and we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it.

California law caps a residential contractor's down payment at $1,000 or 10% of the contract price, whichever is less. We do not ask for more than that, and neither should anyone else. Progress payments follow completed phases of work.

Yes, where the work needs them. Cosmetic painting, flooring and like-for-like fence replacement generally do not. Moving plumbing or electrical, structural changes and taller fences usually do. We pull the permit, schedule the inspections and hand you the signed-off paperwork at the end.

Three years on workmanship across all our trades, on top of whatever the manufacturer warrants on materials — which on roof coatings is 10 years. If something we did fails inside that window, we come back and fix it.
