What building in Orange actually involves
Old Towne Orange is one of the largest historic districts in California, and the houses inside it are held to it. Craftsman bungalows, board-and-batten and early Spanish homes, mostly on plaster, mostly with original single-glazed wood windows that need glazing putty and paint rather than replacement.
The practical difference from a modern repaint is preparation. Old paint on wood sash has to be stabilized and feathered rather than blasted, and the glazing bead needs to be sound before a brush touches it. That is slower, and we quote it as what it is instead of promising a two-day exterior on a hundred-year-old house.
