What building in Pacific Palisades actually involves
The Palisades is hillside building, and hillside building means movement. Homes on caisson and grade-beam foundations shift seasonally, and that shows up indoors as recurring cracks at door corners and along ceiling lines. Patching those without addressing the movement is why the same crack keeps coming back every eighteen months.
We bridge structural cracks with mesh and flexible compound rather than filling them rigid, which is the difference between a repair that holds and one that reopens. Where the movement is significant we will say so plainly rather than sell you the same patch twice.
The January 2025 fire destroyed a large part of the Palisades, and the work here now falls into two kinds. Homes that were lost are being rebuilt, a process led by architects and builders through the city. Homes that survived often came through with smoke, ash and heat damage inside, and restoring those is finishing work: cleaning and sealing surfaces, replacing damaged drywall, repainting and recoating roofs.

Yes. Smoke and ash get into drywall, ceilings, insulation and painted trim. We clean the surfaces, cut out board that took heat or water during the firefight, seal everything with a primer made to block smoke stains and odor, and then repaint. Where a house needs specialist smoke remediation or duct cleaning first, we say so and follow on after it, and if an insurer's adjuster is involved we work from their scope.
